Marshall on the mend

Millwall goalkeeper Andy Marshall is recovering at home after being knocked unconscious during the Lions' 2-1 home win against Preston North End.

Marshall was knocked out after an accidental clash with Lilywhites forward Richard Cresswell and needed seven minutes of treatment before he was taken to King's College Hospital for a scan.

Club doctor Des Thompson told the club's official website: "Andy was taken to hospital and had a brain scan, which was all clear.

"He was allowed home last night and although he has a bit of a headache, all the other symptoms have gone.

"I looked at a TV replay of the incident and it looks as though all the lights went out when his head hit the ground after one of their players accidentally kneed him in the face.

"The prognosis for Andy now is plenty of rest; we have a specific rehabilitation protocol which we will put him through and he won't be in contention for Saturday's game at Sheffield United.

"Andy will have computer neuropsychological tests to check things such as his memory and reactions, but these won't start until he has settled down a bit.

"We'll see how he progresses, but this shouldn't cause any longstanding problems at all for him in the future."
