Lions move for Ward stalls

Millwall have failed in a bid to bring Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Darren Ward back to the New Den on loan.

Ward, who spent four years with the Lions, was expected to complete an emergency loan switch to the capital but all parties failed to agree on a deal.

The player and his parent club failed to agree terms with Kenny Jackett's side and the deal was called off at the 11th hour.

"There are differences between the clubs," Jackett confirmed when speaking to the Southwark News.

"There are a considerable amount of reasons it wasn't pulled off. We've made the inquiry and now we have to turn our attention elsewhere.

"We're trying to get the right players in. I'm waiting on a few phone calls, to see which ones might happen.

"In these situations, a phone call or two can change things and make a player available and we've had plenty of 'maybes', but nothing that's crossed the line yet - though there are a couple of days before Saturday."
