Lions fans in ticket warning

Millwall fans have been told that they will be ejected if they purchase tickets for the Charlton Athletic end ahead for their League One showdown on December 19.

Charlton officials will be keen to avoid any violent scenes, similar to those which flared during the Lions' Carling Cup clash with West Ham United in August, as they prepare for the first meeting between the south London clubs in 13 years.

Charlton's operations director, Mick Everett, writing in Saturday's Valley Review, said: "We recognise that a larger number of visiting supporters than we can accommodate will wish to attend on December 19, so we're putting in place a series of measures to limit their opportunity to obtain tickets in home areas.

"Any Millwall fan identified in a home area will be liable to ejection, and sanctions will be pursued against the person who purchased the ticket on his or her behalf.

"Nevertheless, we will be working with the police to ensure the safety and comfort of both sets of fans on the day, so that all concerned can enjoy a rare local derby with our South-East London neighbours."
