Purse only arrived at The Den from Sheffield Wednesday in January but has made a big impact in his short spell at the club he supported as a boy.
The 34-year-old put pen to paper on a new one-year deal earlier this week and Jackett said: "We took him in the January window and he has impressed with several very good performances since he has been here.
"So I'm pleased he is staying for next year."
