Jackett pleased with Lions progress

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett and Reading boss Brian McDermott both felt the goalless draw at the New Den was a good advert for the npower Championship. Lions striker Steve Morison, who went into the game having scored five goals in his past six games, could have had a hat-trick had it not been for a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing. And the home side were nearly made to pay as Jem Karacan saw a fierce drive pushed onto the post by David Forde late on. A point for the Lions moved them up to third in the table as they continue to take Championship football in their stride following their promotion last season and Jackett felt his side's performance showed how far they have come. He said: "It was a very good standard game and both sides had chances to score and I thought as the home side we had the better of the possession. "But Reading have some very good players and some good forwards and they looked dangerous on the break and could have scored themselves, so in the end I guess we are happy with a point. "I am pleased with my team and over the last few years we have been trying to compete with teams like Reading and stand toe-to-toe with them and that is what we have to do this season and we did that tonight."
