Caretaker boss Willie Donachie has confirmed that he hopes to be handed the Millwall job on a permanent basis.
Donachie was placed in control of first-team affairs on Monday when Nigel Spackman departed after just ten games in charge of the club and then guided the side to a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Tuesday to end a run of five straight defeats.
Afterwards, the former Manchester City number two said: "I have told the board and the chairman that I want the job. I believe that I can do it and it is now in their hands.
"This is a results business and as long as I keep picking up points then I'm sure that I will be in with a chance of being given the job on a full-time basis. It is a big job, but I'm up to it.
"It has been difficult for the players after Nigel left, but I was pleased with their attitude and the performance."
