Byfield blow for Lions
02 Apr 2007 - 12:13:12
Millwall striker Darren Byfield has been ruled out for the rest of the season with the ankle injury he suffered in the victory against Swansea City.
The 30-year-old former Rotherham United, Walsall and Gillingham star, who has scored 14 goals for the Lions this term, was stretchered off after just two minutes of the 2-0 win.
Meanwhile, Tom Brighton will have an operation on the niggling ankle injury that has restricted him to only 14 starts for the club this term.
Lions physio Terry Standring told the club's official website: "Now it's clear we're in no danger of relegation or of having a realistic hope of making the play-offs, we decided to get the situation sorted ready for next season."
