    Batt to miss entire campaign

    30 Jul 2010 - 10:42:00

Millwall expect forward Shaun Batt to miss the whole of the upcoming season after he underwent surgery on a serious knee injury.

The 23-year-old, who only joined the Lions on a permanent basis this summer, was injured in a pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon and faces a nine-month recovery period.

Physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official website: "Shaun underwent surgery last night to his knee and the surgeon invited me to watch the operation.

"He underwent two procedures during the operation - one to reconstruct his anterior cruciate ligament and one to re-attach his lateral ligament, plus part of his hamstring which had detached.

"The good news for Shaun is that the surgeon was happy with the procedure and was keen to point out that the cartilage was intact, along with an important nerve.

"We do not expect Shaun to play a part this season as recovery from this type of procedure usually takes at least nine months."
