Alexander suffers ankle woe

Millwall striker Gary Alexander is expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines after damaging ankle ligaments in the 3-1 win against Leeds United.

The former Leyton Orient star played his part in the Lions' seventh victory of the campaign, but will now be forced to pay for his bravery.

Physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official website: "Unfortunately Gary Alexander sustained damage to his ankle ligaments during Saturday's game.

"Gary showed real strength of character by playing out the match, although he must have been in some discomfort.

"We expect Gary to be out of contention for a few weeks."
