Wolfsburg target Boro defender

Wolfsburg are said to be keeping tabs on Middlesbrough defender Robert Huth as a replacement for Ricardo Costa and Alexander Madlung. Madlung is expected to leave on a Bosman at the end of the season, while Costa is said to be unhappy with a lack of first team opportunities in recent weeks. The former Chelsea man's future may depend on whether Boro survive the drop come the end of the season but it is thought that the North East club would demand a fee of around £6.5million.Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath is a long-term admirer of Huth after trying to sign the German international for former club Bayern Munich while the player was with Chelsea but the Blues' hefty valuation ended any possible move. The title challengers have also been linked with moves for highly rated 1860 Munich youngster Sven Bender and Alemannia Aachen teenager Lewis Holtby but while Magath admitted they had received offers for Costa he refused to comment on future transfers."There had been enquiries for Ricardo Costa already this winter, but we were not interested," he told Kicker magazine. "Ricardo really needs to fight for his first-team appearances."Let's wait and see what happens."Meanwhile, Holtby responded to the speculation by denying he had already had an agreement with Wolfsburg in place."I am not prepared to make a statement. I am under contract at Aachen and not signed a deal elsewhere."
