Tyne-Tees showdown: This is my biggest game, says Shearer

Two very different managers in charge of two very different North East clubs have decided to take opposite approaches for the derby clash which neither can afford to lose or even draw. Alan Shearer insists the Tyne-Tees derby tonight is the biggest game of his career, overshadowing England's run to the Euro 96 semi-finals, his 63 international caps and his Premier League title win at Anfield with Blackburn Rovers 14 years ago.  The Newcastle manager said: 'Is it the biggest game for Newcastle? Without a doubt. Bigger than Euro 96? Absolutely. The stakes are high, massive, probably never been bigger. 'We are in the situation we are in because results haven't gone as well as people would have hoped but I believe we have still got enough time. I still believe we have got enough in the dressing room. 'The pleasing thing is that results keep going for us elsewhere and other teams haven't taken advantage, so we are all still in it, we are all still fighting and we will be fighting to the very end, believe me.'
