TRANSFER DEADLINE UPDATE - Boro table £3m Hulse bid

01 September 2009 12:55
MIDDLESBROUGH have launched a £3m offer for Derby County striker Rob Hulse after learning Afonso Alves is close to ending his Teesside stay. Alves is in Qatar looking to finalise a £7m move to Al-Saad and manager Gareth Southgate has moved quickly to attempt to secure a replacement. The Boro boss has tabled a £3m bid for Hulse and is currently awaiting a response from the Derby County board. Southgate's plans, however, have been made more difficult by the fact that Qatar's transfer window does not officially close until September 15. And with Middlesbrough in need of the money raised from an Alves sale to fund moves in the transfer market, plenty high level negotiating is required.
