Toe woe troubles Taylor

Middlesbrough left-back Andrew Taylor will miss the UEFA Under-21s Championships in June as he requires surgery on a toe injury. The 20-year-old, who has become a first-team regular for Boro in the past few months, has been struggling with the problem for some time and needs minor surgery to repair the damage. Manager Gareth Southgate told the club's official website: "It's a minor operation we've been advised Andrew needs doing. "We're not anticipating any problems and he should be fine for the start of next season." Unfortunately the operation will prevent Taylor featuring for the England Under-21s side this summer as they chase European success in the Netherlands, where they will take on the Czech Republic, Serbia and Italy in the group stage. Taylor has been with Boro for nearly two years and has made just over 60 first-team appearances, as well as impressing during a loan stint with Bradford City last season.
