Middlesbrough have been rocked by the news that Fabio Rochemback will be suspended for the first three games of the new season.
The Brazilian midfielder has been ruled out of the Premier League encounters against Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Fulham.
Rochemback was sent-off in a friendly game against Hertha Berlin earlier this month following what appeared to be an innocuous clash with Hungarian midfielder Pal Dardai.
Meanwhile, Boro boss Gareth Southgate was impressed by new signing Tuncay's performance in the pre-season game against Burnley.
The Turkey international impressed in the 1-1 draw, with Southgate saying: "We got a glimpse of what Tuncay is all about.
"He's a very fit lad, he's sharp, he's got a good first touch and he's an intelligent footballer.
"It gives us something a bit different and he's shown that he can play in a number of positions.
"Playing on the right is a job he's done before and he can also play further forward in the middle of midfield. It's great to have these options."
