Strachan's striker hope

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan has told the club's supporters there is much more to come from Scott McDonald following the striker's debut against Barnsley on Tuesday night. McDonald - a deadline day signing from Celtic - impressed on his first appearance for his new club as Boro recorded a 2-1 victory over their fellow play-off hopefuls. The Australia forward is still short of fitness following recent hernia surgery and Strachan expects him to go from strength to strength as he settles in at the Riverside Stadium. Strachan said: "I've known Sir Alex Ferguson for 30-odd years and he has always said your strikers determine how good you are. "Scott's nowhere near fit, absolutely nowhere near. But he was a threat, had shots and got into good positions. "He did a great job and once we know where to find him he'll be even more effective.
