Strachan wins Thomson's backing

Scotland international Kevin Thomson insists all the Middlesbrough players are backing under-fire boss Gordon Strachan. The former Celtic manager has been criticised for Boro's poor start to the campaign after he brought in several high-profile players in the summer. But former Rangers star Thomson told the Evening Gazette: "We've got a great manager here. We also have the squad and the individuals who have the talent to compete and win this league. "Despite the results, the lads are working very, very hard, on the training field and on the pitch. The one thing we aren't seeing much of is Lady Luck. "But I've worked under a few managers now, two or three at Hibs and probably the best at Rangers and we have the right man for the job here. "There are those who say Gordon Strachan isn't the right manager but they should take a look in the mirror. The players are all behind him. We'll keep working hard and we know that three or four wins will send us shooting up the league. "The manager is the right man for the job. He will take us in the right direction."
