Strachan swoops for Osbourne

Middlesbrough have moved to bulk up their midfield by bringing Aston Villa youngster Isaiah Osbourne to the Riverside on a short-term loan deal.

The 21-year-old has signed for Gordon Strachan's team for two months but will be initially unavailable as he is out on bail following his arrest in Birmingham in early October for conspiracy to rob.

Nevertheless Strachan is confident that the central midfielder will have an effect at the club, telling reporters that: "he'll give us strength, height and get about the pitch."

The former Celtic boss added: "I've known about Isaiah for about a year and he'll bring us more strength in the midfield area where we're definitely short on numbers."
