Strachan fumes at fouls
17 Feb 2010 - 14:12:37
Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan was disappointed after watching his side fall to a 2-0 defeat at Blackpool on Tuesday evening.
He believes the game could have had a different look to it if Charlie Adam had been dismissed for bringing down Jeremie Aliadiere as he homed in on goal.
However, referee Mark Haywood produced a yellow card for the offence.
Although he did dismiss defender Rob Edwards for felling Scott McDonald, Strachan thinks his team should have played against nine men for much of the second half.
"I think the first was a sending-off, the same as the second," he said. "From where I was sitting, it certainly looked as though Jeremie was clean through.
"But I suppose you'd have to say from their point of view, it was two great professional fouls. If they hadn't taken those two players down, it would have been us leading the game instead of them."
