Strachan defends Boro faithful

Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has refused to pin any blame for the team's poor home performances on the vocal discontent shown by fans at the Riverside.

Boro are the only club in the top half of the Championship to have a better record away from home than in front of their own supporters, having won just three matches on Teesside - none of which have come in the three games there since Strachan took charge in October.

"The crowd are actually good and support the team very well," said Strachan.

The former Celtic boss had no defence for his team though, adding: "There is something fundamentally wrong here and we need to find it out."
