Strachan to spend more time on training pitch

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan is looking forward to stepping up his work on the training pitch after losing Gary McAllister to Aston Villa. The coach drafted in at the end of last season as part of a major reshuffle behind the scenes has accepted the position of assistant boss at Villa Park under Gerard Houllier and that means there is a void to fill. Strachan told the Evening Gazette: "We are sorry to see Gary leave but there are a lot of people multi-tasking here. "I enjoy getting out there on the training field so if I have the opportunity to get out a bit more, then that's fine. "In fact, I'm looking forward to doing more coaching."
