Strachan spending to continue

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan has no intention of ending his summer spending spree despite landing his fifth new signing. Midfielder Kevin Thomson followed Andy Halliday, Kris Boyd, Nicky Bailey and Stephen McManus into the Riverside Stadium in a £2million switch from Rangers. However, Strachan is determined to keep chairman Steve Gibson and chief executive Keith Lamb busy. He told the club's official website, www.mfc.co.uk: "There will be more players coming in yet. We will maybe look at loans, but we will also see how much money is left in the kitty for further signings. "It's great to have so many of our main targets in already. That's a real bonus and it's certainly more than I expected. "That's been down to great work by Keith Lamb and the chairman to support me and get the players in."
