The Estonia midfielder came off the bench to hit a stunning late double and give Boro a 2-1 win of Burnley.
Kink's stoppage-time free-kick eased some of the pressure on Strachan, and the under fire former Celtic boss is expecting plenty more star turns from a player he has admired for some time.
He said: "We know he is a good player.
"We have been watching him since March and we know what he can do.
"He is a sensitive lad and has maybe struggled a wee bit with the physical side here but he has a talent for striking a football and an eye for goal."
