Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan remains hopeful of striking a deal to secure Stephen McManus' return to the club. The 27-year-old Scotland international defender spent the second half of last season on loan at the Riverside Stadium, and the Teessiders are in advanced negotiations to make that move permanent with the player having been left behind as the Bhoys flew out on their North American tour. Strachan told Boro's official website: "There's a good possibility of Stephen coming back, but like every deal, it has to be done properly. We are getting down the line there." Boro have already added striker Kris Boyd and midfielder Nicky Bailey to their squad, and Strachan is certain they will not be the last arrivals. He said: "It's nowhere near finished yet, that's for sure. We will keep trying to add and add. "I hope we can make a right few signings over the next few weeks of different types. Some will be transfers and some will be loans, I imagine."
