Strach happy to get a win

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan admitted his side had been well below their best in beating Sheffield United 1-0, but took heart from a first league victory this term. Kris Boyd netted his first goal in the English game after a mistake from Chris Morgan to settle a dismal encounter. "I think it was two nervous teams who put themselves in a nervous position by only having one point after two games," said Strachan. "Both teams wanted to win but looked like they were desperate not to get beat either. Hopefully, getting the win will have helped us over a psychological barrier. "We're not doing enough in the middle of the park, but people tend to forget that we have four good midfield players missing at the moment in (Kevin) Thomson, (Gary) O'Neil, (Rhys) Williams and (Willo) Flood. I've always said to players that if you're not great technically, you've just got to be a good team-mate and I think the boys were good team-mates today (Sunday)."
