Stoke set to make £4m bid for Middlesbrough defender David Wheater

Gordon Strachan is facing a fight to keep former England Under 21 centre half David Wheater at the Riverside as Stoke boss Tony Pulis prepares to make a £4million bid.[LNB] The Boro boss has already lost experienced defenders Chris Riggott and Emanuel Pogatetz since the end of the season and is still hoping to persuade Celtic to part company with Scotland centre half Stephen McManus after his loan spell at the Riverside.
