Southgate's Downing delight

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Stewart Downing will be fit enough to return to action in Saturday's Riverside Stadium clash against Manchester United.
The 22-year-old has been sidelined since the 1-0 victory against West Ham United earlier this month with a groin problem and was almost handed a recall for this weekend's draw at Aston Villa.
"Stewart could possibly have played at Villa but I wasn't prepared to take the chance with the injury," admitted Southgate. "It's important I look beyond the short term.
"He's a valuable asset and I didn't want to play him at Villa Park and lose him for four or five games.
"It's difficult to take that decision with a player of quality - and Stewart was very keen to play.
"But I think it was the right decision for him. Last year he played in a game for us he shouldn't have played in and missed three months.
"I have to weigh those things up. Looking after his welfare is more important than anything, but Stewart will be available against Manchester United."
