Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate was pleased with the way his side coped with the blustery conditions as they reached the fifth round of the FA Cup with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Mansfield Town.
Boro's display at Field Mill never reached any great heights but they eventually did just enough to beat the League Two strugglers, to Southgate's relief.
"We knew it would be a difficult test because it's tough at these grounds," he said.
"I'm pleased with the way we approached it and getting our first goal settled us down.
"Although it was very windy our goalkeeper and central defenders coped with it very well.
"We could have played better but the main thing is that we got through. Credit to Mansfield because they were never going to give up and they didn't."
