Southgate may sign two more
09 Jul 2008 - 08:56:12
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is keen to bring two more new players to the club before the start of the season.
Boro have added Marvin Emnes and Didier Digard to their ranks in readiness for the new campaign but Southgate has not ruled out the possibility of more new arrivals, particularly as George Boateng looks set to be heading out of the club.
"To have these two boys here now is a bonus for us and for them. They'll get to know how we work, what we want to achieve and will get to know all their team-mates at the earliest possible stage," he told Boro's official website.
"There are a couple of other players where we're monitoring the situation with their clubs.
"I'm pleased we've got two players in. With any other players, if it takes a bit of time, then so be it.
"George has expressed a desire to move on. He's having talks with a couple of other clubs and that's the decision he's got to make now.
"Mido's been working with one of our fitness coaches in Egypt for four weeks during the summer. That was something he organised for himself and he's come back in good condition.
"Robert Huth is another player who we saw for a spell last season what an outstanding player he is. That's why I'm quite comfortable about the squad.
"The size is about right and it's also important we don't block the way forward for some good young players we have coming through."
