Southgate wants Huth to stay

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate will do all he can to keep Robert Huth at the Riverside Stadium. A number of players, including forwards Tuncay Sanli and Afonso Alves, are expected to leave Boro this month following their relegation to the Championship, but Southgate is keen to hang on to former Chelsea defender Huth. "I would rather not sell him but I know there are certain things we have to do as a football club," the manager told the club's official website. "Robert's approach is first class. Of course it would be fantastic if he could go to the World Cup with Germany and a move might help him to do that. "But he has been very realistic about it and has told me he understands that for him to leave a club has to offer the type of money Middlesbrough want." Regarding the future of Tuncay, Southgate added: "I'm amazed he is still here because he's a player of tremendous talent and is a wonderful character too. I'd expect something to happen before the end of the month."
