Schwarzer cools exit talk
10 Jul 2007 - 11:22:08
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer says he is likely to start the new season at the Riverside, despite having failed to agree a new contract with Boro.
The 34-year-old is currently away on international duty at the Asia Cup with Australia, bur insists that leaving Boro is not an option at the current time.
He told Sky Sports News: "I am under contract with Middlesbrough and it is illegal to have contact with any other club.
"I have got one year left on my contract and my agent is in discussions with Middlesbrough at the moment and that is all.
"Like I said, I have one year left on my contract and until such time when I am no longer under contract, or I am told something else, I will be at Middlesbrough and I will be at the start of the season."
Schwarzer has been with Boro since February 1997, making just over 400 appearances for the Teessiders.
His current contract runs out at the end of next season.
