Robson calls for better quality

MIDDLESBROUGH midfielder Barry Robson is hoping to improve the quality of his passing when Scotland take on European whipping boys Liechtenstein tomorrow.[LNB] Robson was left frustrated on Friday evening as a goalless draw in Lithuania meant Craig Levein's side failed to make a winning start to their European Championship qualifying campaign.[LNB] A poor display from Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir helped prevent Scotland's players from generating any momentum, but Robson also felt the quality of the side's passing and crossing was not up to scratch.[LNB] A win in tomorrow's home game at Hampden Park is imperative, and the Boro midfielder is looking for an improved display against one of the poorest sides in European football.[LNB] I thought we came at Lithuania and had a few decent chances as well, said Robson. A wee bit better quality, some better balls into the box from me, and we might have won the game. We were much the better team, and it was frustrating in the end not to have come away with a win.[LNB] It was especially frustrating because, every time you broke forward, someone took you down. You need protection from the referee and I don't think we got it.[LNB] With Spain and the Czech Republic also in Scotland's qualifying group, it is essential Levein's side claim all three points tomorrow.[LNB] The Scotland boss is sure to name a much more attacking line-up against Liechtenstein, and Boro striker Kris Boyd could be added to a starting XI that is also expected to contain Robson and Stephen McManus.[LNB] Hopefully, we can move forward and win this next game, said Robson. We know we can still play better, but we looked a lot better (against Lithuania) than we have done recently.[LNB] You can see the manager is trying to build something here and we'll move forward.[LNB] We will keep going, and we will get even better.[LNB]
