    Riggott adds to Boro's woes

    10 Feb 2009 - 11:15:00

Middlesbrough's problems are showing no sign of improving after it was revealed that Chris Riggott faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after tearing his medial knee ligament during the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.

The 27-year-old former Derby County defender limped out of the Eastlands clash in the 66th minute and was replaced by Justin Hoyte.

Meanwhile, Robert Huth is convinced Boro will not be relegated this season.

Gareth Southgate's side have failed to win any of their last 13 Premier League matches and remain entrenched in the bottom three but the Germany international is in an optimistic frame of mind.

He told Boro's official website: "We had chances and didn't take them at Manchester City.

"Obviously it's very disappointing but we have to cross that game off now, forget about it and make sure we get something out of Wigan in a fortnight.

"There's no point looking back, it doesn't matter. We can't do anything about it.

"We have to look towards the last 13 games now and make sure we get the wins or the draws necessary.

"We have only managed to win five games and we have to do that again if we are to stay in the league. We are struggling so we have to put our heads down and work.

"The lads don't want to be there and it's up to us and the manager to get us out of it."
