Rams move for Sam revoked

Derby tried to sign Wolves striker Sam Vokes on a season-long loan after agreeing to sell Rob Hulse to Middlesbrough, according to Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey. Moxey also claims the Rams pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th-hour on transfer deadline day after Hulse's move to the Riverside collapsed. "We agreed a deal for Derby to take Sam for the season. We had lots of options for Sam but he and the manager were happy for him to go to Derby," Moxey told the Birmingham Mail. "With them having done a deal with Middlesbrough for Rob Hulse, we thought it would all go through. But we had a telephone call at 4.30pm to say Hulse's proposed move to Middlesbrough had fallen through and therefore they couldn't guarantee Vokes would be playing."
