Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren admitted after Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to
Newcastle United that Franck Queudrue is a doubt for Wednesday's FA Cup sixth round replay against Charlton Athletic.
The Frenchman had a further eight stitches inserted in a head wound having suffered a similar injury in last Thursday's amazing UEFA Cup success against Basel.
"He's touch and go for Wednesday," McClaren said after the match.
"But Newcastle caught us at a good time for them.
"Conceding two goals in the first half was disappointing. It was poor defending again.
"Credit to the players, they could have stayed flat in the second half but they came back. Last-minute goals don't come too often though.
"I was disappointed we were not quicker out of the blocks. We finished the game strong searching for an equaliser and were on top, but we ran out of time.
"Everyone knows we have other priorities, there is a big prize at stake (on Wednesday), an FA Cup semi-final tie against West ham."
