Pogatetz laments injuries
23 Nov 2009 - 16:21:38
Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz has admitted that he is embarrassed at his latest injury that bothered him during the weekend clash against Nottingham Forest.
He has endured an injury-plagued season to date and after fracturing his cheekbone last month in the home loss to Plymouth Argyle, the Austrian was given permission to play on Saturday with a protective mask and it was during the 1-1 draw he suffered a cut to his head.
Although he played the full 90 minutes, he required stitches on the wound.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "At the moment I feel like every time I get hit I start bleeding.
"To be honest, I am a little bit embarrassed that I had to go off again for stitches.
"Hopefully, it's just a bad spell and it will be over soon.
"The lads have been giving me a bit of stick, saying I should cover myself in Vaseline before I go on to the pitch."
