Pogatetz hints at Boro exit

Middlesbrough captain Emanuel Pogatetz has dropped a strong hint that he will look to leave the club should they be relegated.

Pogatetz, 26, has been with Boro for four years after joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2005.

However with the 19th-placed Teessiders unsure over their top-flight future with just eight games remaining in the season, the Austria defender has admitted he would consider leaving if they are relegated.

"I'm 26 years old and I want to continue playing at the highest level," said Pogatetz.

"Should I leave in the summer, it will be for sporting reasons or to go to a club that plays in Europe or one with high ambitions.

"It becomes tiring to fight relegation every season."
