Pogatetz wants Boro stay

Emmanuel Pogatetz has rejected claims he may leave Middlesbrough should the club be relegated from the Premier League. Gareth Southgate's side currently lie second from bottom in the league, four points from safety with just eight games remaining. But club captain Pogatetz has dismissed the thought of leaving and is desperate to keep the club adrift. "I badly want to continue my career here and I will be doing everything in my power to help us stay in the Premier League," said the defender. The Austrian international, who moved to the Riverside from Bayer Leverkusen in 2005, is not considering a move and is instead hoping to earn a new deal. "The scenario I am hoping for is that not only Middlesbrough stay up but that I can agree an extension to my contract with the club."
