Pogatetz desperate to heal his FA Cup pain with Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough captain Emanuel Pogatetz was so disgusted with his side's FA Cup exit to Cardiff City a year ago that he could not even bring himself to watch the Wembley final two months later. [LNB] Revenge mission: Emanuel Pogatetz is determined to make up for Middlesbrough's defeat in last year's FA Cup quarter-final against Cardiff City.[LNB] The Austria international has watched every final since he was a boy and the history of the competition was one of the reasons he moved to English football. [LNB]But 12 months ago, Middlesbrough blew their chance of winning only their second piece of major silverware in their history when they were defeated by the eventual finalists at the quarter-final stage and Pogatetz has admitted he is still not really over the disappointment. [LNB]The Boro skipper, who will lead his side out for their fourth successive FA Cup quarter-final at Everton tomorrow, with the club locked in a Premier League survival battle, said: 'It still hurts. We missed a great opportunity to go on to the final and win it, but hopefully we can make up for it this year and use that disappointment as motivation.[LNB] 'We were all shell-shocked after that defeat. I remember the great atmosphere before kick-off and it was just a horrible feeling going out the way we did.[LNB]'It still hurts because we wasted a great opportunity. It was so bad for me that I didn't watch the FA Cup final last year, the first one I can remember missing. [LNB]'It is not a nice feeling coming in every morning knowing you're in a relegation position. There's a lot of negativity coming from a lot of places but we have to stay positive.
