Rhys Williams is a versatile player currently on the books of Middlesbrough. Rhys is another product of the Boro Academy and proved his worth during a loan spell with Burnley during the 2008-09 season. A defensive-minded player, Rhys started off as a centre back, before switching to right back. During the 2009-10 pre-season Rhys played superbly well in the centre of midfield, a position he operated in for much of the early stages of the campaign. After Gordon Strachan's appointment as manager, Rhys played at right back as well as centre midfield. Rhys was sidelined by a pelvic injury towards the end of the 2009-10 season and underwent strict rehabilitation back in his homeland for several months before returning to the Boro fold in the latter part of 2010-11. He featured in a variety positions in the closing stages of the campaign, looking comfortable across defence and into midfield, and making a real impression under new manager Tony Mowbray.
