Owens decides on Boro exit

Middlesbrough winger Graeme Owens has decided to leave the club at the end of the season in search of regular first-team football.

The 20-year-old has made just one senior appearance for the Teessiders to date, in a Carling Cup tie with Spurs in September 2007 and has been loaned out to Chesterfield and Blackpool since that time.

He told the Evening Gazette: "I've loved my time at Boro and I am thankful to the coaching staff, Dave Parnaby, Malcolm Crosby and Gareth Southgate.

"It's been tough having Stewart Downing and Adam Johnson ahead of me in the pecking order.

"That would be tough for any player as Stewart and Adam are top-class players and arguably the best in the country in that position.

"I am an out-and-out winger, I love to take people on and create chances - that's my game."
