Midfielder Gary O'Neil's immediate future with Middlesbrough remains in doubt due to a payment pending to his former club, Portsmouth.
The 26-year-old joined Boro in the summer of 2006 and has since made 99 appearances, with a further outing set to trigger a £1million payment to Pompey, who are currently in administration.
The issue is further clouded by O'Neil being out of contract at the end of the season and being heavily linked with a move away from the Riverside.
Boro boss Gordon Strachan told the Evening Gazette: "It's out of my hands what happens. You never know what might happen this week.
"It's a dilemma, but anything involved in the financial side of the club is nothing to do with me."
