No go: Pogatetz denied £1.5m Greek move as Strachan pinpoints play-offs

Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has blocked Emanuel Pogatetz's move to Panathinaikos.[LNB]No go: Strachan is keen to keep hold off Pogatetz[LNB]This week the Greek club offered £1.5million for the Austria captain who is out of contract in June, but Strachan has persuaded chairman Steve Gibson not to sell to fund his January additions.[LNB]Strachan said: 'If we tried to get the same type of player or maybe not even one as good as him it would cost us more than five times what the other teams is offering so it is not worth it. Poggy is fine about it and understands that and it won't happen. [LNB]'He is one of the big men and big figures at this club and his leadership is invaluable.[LNB]'The play offs is still a realistic ambition if we get the people we want in and everybody gets fit, but at the moment we have to just start winning games. [LNB]'We need more players in though.
