Mowbray wants to bring crowds back
Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is determined to bring the crowds back to the Riverside Stadium by playing attacking football.
The Teessiders, who host npower Championship leaders QPR on Saturday, are currently fighting to secure their place in the division but Mowbray's ambition is to build attendances once again by providing fans with something to shout about.
He told the club's official website: "The target for us all of us has got to be to create a vociferous atmosphere so that when the team is attacking, the opposition are aware of it and that the noise from the crowd has an impact on the game.
"While we have had that in spells this season when we have been chasing a late winner, we want to get it for 90 minutes.
"I have seen it over the years at the Riverside, when you look back to the quarter-finals and semi-final in the UEFA Cup when the crowd were practically sucking the ball in in the second half.
"Can we ever get back to that? I hope so. But that will only happen when we get more fans in and give them something to shout about by attacking the opposition goal more often."
