Mowbray guarded on Wheater future

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray revealed he expected serious offers for centre-half David Wheater during the January transfer window. Luciano Becchio struck a superb stoppage-time volley to preserve Leeds' unbeaten run and deny Boro victory after a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. It was rough justice on the visitors, who looked to be heading for back-to-back victories after Wheater's towering header had given them a first-half lead they rarely looked like surrendering. Wheater has been linked with a move away and a frustrated Mowbray said: "We have to learn to kill these games off. It's frustrating that 10 seconds before we conceded the equaliser we had three men in their six-yard box. "Everyone's speculating about David, but we'll wait and see what happens. He's an important part of our team, but wants to play in the Premier League and my job is to find a replacement if he does leave."
