Boro look to sting Hornets

Interim Middlesbrough boss Mark Venus has a full squad from which to select for Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Watford.

Boro picked up no fresh injuries in last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Blackburn and Venus will have the luxury of being able to select his strongest XI as the Teessiders attempt to return to winning ways at the Riverside Stadium.

The caretaker manager launched his temporary reign with a 4-0 home victory over Doncaster on October 25 and will be looking for a similarly convincing performance as he attempts to enhance his chances of securing the job on a permanent basis.

Central defender Jonathan Woodgate, the man to whom Venus handed the captain's armband after his appointment, has started the last two games after shaking off a niggling calf problem and is likely to continue having suffered no ill-effects on his return.

New signing George Thorne comes into contention for his Watford debut.

The midfielder arrived this week on a loan deal from West Brom and could be handed his bow at the Riverside as the Hornets look to get back to winning ways.

Manager Gianfranco Zola will certainly be considering changes following last weekend's hugely disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Leicester.

Defender Nyron Nosworthy is nearing his return from an Achilles injury but midfielder Almen Abdi (foot) and long-term absentee Tommie Hoban (ankle) remain absent.
