Richardson worry for Boro

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has only one fresh injury concern ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Defender Frazer Richardson tweaked a groin muscle in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Wigan and will be assessed before Mowbray finalises his plans.

Keeper Jason Steele returned from an ankle problem sustained in the 1-0 win at Charlton on August 10 for the game at the DW Stadium and although the felt the after-effects, he will be available.

The Teessiders otherwise have a relatively clean bill of health with only Seb Hines missing.

Central defender Hines underwent knee surgery during the summer and is expected to sit out the first month of the campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson could go straight back into the starting line-up following suspension.

Johnson has completed a three-game ban after his dismissal in the Capital One Cup defeat at Rotherham and boss Dave Jones may be tempted to start with the Jamaica international, either in a central position up front or on the right wing.

Right-back Lewis Buxton faces a late fitness test after sustaining a hamstring strain against Millwall last week and if he fails to make it Liam Palmer will come into contention.

Midfielder Kieran Lee (hip) and defender Joe Mattock (knee) both remain sidelined.
