Boro boss confident over Carayol

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka is hoping to have Mustapha Carayol available when they host Nottingham Forest.

The Gambia midfielder complained of a hip problem following Saturday's 2-0 win against Ipswich but his Spanish boss is confident of a quick recovery and should feature.

Veteran Jonathan Woodgate (calf) is expected to miss out for a second successive game while goalkeeper Tomas Meijas is definitely out with a dislocated finger.

Defenders Seb Hines (thigh), Rhys Williams (Achilles) and Daniel Ayala (ankle) complete a lengthy list of absentees for the Boro boss as he goes in search of a second home win in three days.

Nottingham Forest's injury problems show little sign of easing ahead of the trip.

Kelvin Wilson made his long-awaited return from a back problem with a run-out for the reserves last week but the defender is not yet ready to resume action in the Sky Bet Championship.

Fellow centre-half Jack Hobbs (ankle), full-back Eric Lichaj (hernia) and midfielders Andy Reid (hernia), Henri Lansbury (back) and David Vaughan (knee) will also remain on the sidelines on Tuesday night.

Forest boss Billy Davies will serve the second game of a five-match touchline ban at the Riverside Stadium after being charged with misconduct by the Football Association.
