Whitehead and Woodgate out for Boro

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka will be without midfielder Dean Whitehead for Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Ipswich.

Whitehead is suspended after being sent off for a second bookable offence during last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Central defender Jonathan Woodgate is also out after limping off at half-time at Hillsborough with a calf problem, while goalkeeper Tomas Mejias, who made his debut in the same game, will be missing for several weeks because of a hand injury sustained in training.

Seb Hines could also be sidelined for some time with a thigh injury, while fellow defender Kenneth Omeruo played for Nigeria against Mexico in Atlanta in midweek and faced a gruelling return trip from the United States.

Daniel Ayala remains on the sidelines as he continues his recovery from ankle surgery, while Rhys Williams may miss the remainder of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Play-off chasing Ipswich have received a triple boost ahead of their trip to the Riverside Stadium..

Striker Frank Nouble has recovered from the hamstring injury which forced him off shortly after half-time in last weekend's 1-0 victory over Birmingham.

Midfielder Luke Hyam is also fit following a troublesome hamstring problem of his own, while recent loan signing Jonny Williams has recovered from a muscle complaint which forced him out of a potential debut last weekend.

Anthony Wordsworth (back) provides the only fresh injury concern for boss Mick McCarthy while on-loan defender Frazer Richardson is ineligible to face his parent club.
