Duo struggling for Boro

Andre Bikey and Josh McEachran are doubts for Middlesbrough's home clash with Blackpool.

Central defender Bikey and midfielder McEachran both suffered ankle injuries during the 1-0 npower Championship victory over Blackburn and will be assessed over the next 48 hours.

Defender Seb Hines and midfielder Faris Haroun also missed the Blackburn game, both with hamstring problems, and they will also face late checks.

Long-term absentee Rhys Williams played the second half of the Boxing Day match after recovering from ankle ligament damage, his first senior appearance in four months, and manager Tony Mowbray will hope he suffers no ill-effects.

Midfielders Julio Arca (toe) and Muzzy Carayol and striker Curtis Main (both knee) are continuing to work their way back to full fitness.

Blackpool boss Michael Appleton could rotate his attacking options.

Appleton says he has been impressed by the contributions of Nathan Delfouneso and Nouha Dicko in recent weeks and could reward one if not both with a starting place.

"I think the players coming off the bench are starting to make a mark," he told the club's official website. "We're very fortunate that substitutes have come on and scored goals at critical times for us, which has been a bonus."

Delfouneso netted the equaliser in their Boxing Day draw at Huddersfield as the Tangerines moved within four points of the play-off places.

Defender Craig Cathcart returned against the Terriers after recovering from a sickness bug and should retain his place after no further setbacks.

Neal Eardley remained on the bench in that fixture with the same problem and may have to settle for a substitute's role again.
