Middlesbrough deals show Gibson's support for under-fire Southgate

On the move again: Marlon King And Wigan striker Marlon King has agreed to join on loan until the end of the season after he was kicked out of Hull City earlier this week. Boro striker Mido is expected to complete a loan move to Wigan on Friday as he wants to team up with Egypt team-mate Amir Zaki. The two Riverside newcomers are players manager Southgate has long identified as targets. Gibson’s backing in the market, while funds at the club are stretched, is further evidence that Southgate, the bookies’ favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked, is safe in his job. Southgate certainly acknowledged the chairman’s support. He said: ‘I don’t take my job for granted or think that I have a divine right to be here, but our relationship is as strong as ever and the belief in the club is very much a forward-thinking belief. ‘We haven’t even spoken about anything other than how do we improve the team and get us winning again, and that is our sole focus.’   More...
